  1. I was reading what some of the other groups were thinking about doing, and so far they have mentioned conducting interviews, making videos, hosting debates, and creating a public service announcement. So we should probably consider trying something different if possible. I, personally, like the idea of participating in an event that's already planned (2nd bullet) or place ourselves in minority situations (last bullet). I just feel like there are already so many events going on around campus that it would be better to support and participate in one instead of creating another one that would fulfill the same purpose. However, if we pick a topic that there isn't already an event or organization for, we could. I am open for any topics or issues. Also, I am NOT good with technology (and I'm somewhat ignorant of the means of presentation using a lot of technology), so ya'll please come up with some ideas! The most I know how to do is a powerpoint, and that is pushing it for me.

  2. Bullet number 8 is really creative, but I understand about there already being a lot of events taking place on campus. So, I agree bullet number 2 and 9. They're both really good. With bullet nuber 2 we can video tape the people, interviews, and activities. I can work with windows movie maker and we can find a camera or I can try to borrow my parents camera. This is really exciting! Please let me know what you think. *By the way, if we go to an activist/service oriented group on campus or in the community, which one sparks the most interest? Or which one do we (the group or the student body) know the least about?

  3. I looked at the UA Events Calendar, and the two events i saw happening in April that would relate would be the Healing the Wounded Heart Exhibit and the Safe Zone training. The exhibit is put on by the Women's Resource Center and is a display of wooden hearts decorated by victims of sexual assault. The Safe Zone training is for people wanting to be an ally to queer/transgender/homosexual, etc. It deals with issues like harassment and homophobia as well. I think either of these would be good. And I like the idea of video taping and interviewing people involved and spectators/participants. There may be other events going on by groups that aren't listed on the calendar, but I just don't know of any right now. I have a friend in IJM, which deals with the issue of human trafficking. I can ask her if they are planning anything in the next few weeks, also.

  4. I think going to the Healing the Wounded Heart exhibit would be really great and really interesting. I really like the idea of interviewing people. I also think that going to an event on campus would be a good plan but I'm not stuck on that so if we decided to do something else it wouldn't bother me at all. I also think it would be good to do surveys. If we choose to go to wounded hearts we could do surveys of girls (not there but outside of the event just around campus), we could get facts about sexual assault and try see how much information girls know about the topic in general. I'm an RA so I could pass them out to some of the girls here and it wouldn't be too difficult. Just a thought but again I'm not stuck on it or anything!!

  5. Overall, I feel that we should do something already going on in campus instead of coming up with a event. I am still open to doing something else I just feel that would save us some time ane energy in the sense of completing our project. If we do the wounded hearts I agree Carolyn by interviewing girls around campus, and I feel that would help us alot because it lets us see our average people in our society feel about that particual issue. I am not tied down to anything though we can discuss our idea's in more detail in class on Monday.

  6. I completely agree with everyone on just getting involved with something that is already happening on campus instead of creating our own. I like the idea of doing interviews also around campus and using a video camera so we can tie in with the media aspect.I could also help Carolyn pass stuff out too. I work at a restaurant so I have plenty of co-workers and customers that could help out. I am also open to ideas so anything would be great, I am sure on Monday we can think of something original and build on it!

  7. I like the Healing the Wounded Heart event and doing the surveys. I know that we'll talk more about it in class, but would the surveys be something like the alcohol edu thing? Surveying to see how much they know and then educating them on the truth? What about recording some of the surveys if the people consent?
